The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting and organizing documents and information from various cases at the firm. This candidate should feel comfortable relaying messages between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases they are working on organized.
- Proven experience handling complex commercial litigation cases and personal injury cases, including:
- Filing in state and federal courts (Texas, New York, California, and other states) and downloading/transferring file-marked copies of filings to case file
- Ordering and summarizing medical records
- Drafting Subpoenas (state and federal)
- Maintaining electronic calendar, including internal and court-related deadlines, as well as scheduling Zoom meetings, conference calls, experts, court reporters, and videographers
- Maintain case files/docs
- Maintain expert files/docs
- Prepare for court hearings, depositions, trials, and mediation/arbitration
- Monitor heavy email traffic
- Strong proofreading of briefs (sometimes 50+ pages and 50-100 footnotes, and other legal documents for errors (grammatical and spelling), including legal and record cites, assisting with the search for missing record cites, creation and assembly of supporting appendices, TOC, TOA
- Maintain deposition and witness files
- Prepare/organize documents for production and/or coordinate efforts with Vendor, including Bates-numbering and production of same to counsel
- Review and index documents
- Prepare scheduling orders per local rules and court requirements
- Advanced knowledge of Word and Adobe; Excel and PowerPoint are a plus.
- Experience handling administrative duties and paralegal duties. This is an absolute must.
- Ability to juggle multiple assignments and deadlines regularly.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years experience as a paralegal
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate
- Detail Oriented
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Proficient in cite checking and proofreading
